Oh, I’m so glad Merry Christmas comes yust once a year.

I was a little more excited for Christmas this year.  Marginally, as I realize that the Mini is still a little too young to understand the concept of Christmas, and I also know that it’s really easy for kids to get overwhelmed with a bunch of crap shoved in their face. So I tried to be cognisant of that.  And then I pulled out the wrapped pile of toys, which didn’t look like much at first, but I swear multiplied.  I think it’s the hall closet.  It’s a breeding ground.   On top of the fact that we still had a kitchen set, table and chairs and a couple of other things to put together.   I distinctly remember saying last year that I didn’t want to get too much for him, as he’s not going to remember.   And yet, this is the second year in a row that he seems to have gotten more than he can possibly handle.

As such, presents were literally an all day affair.    By the end of it, he was pretty much running on sensory overload and decided that mentally checking out in the form of slamming doors, was a good idea.  On top of that, he decided that he wasn’t going to nap today.  We weren’t home, there was too much going on.  Despite that, he remained in great spirits, and was funny as hell all day.  He laughed at all of Mama’s jokes, and was social and outgoing with everyone.  That’s the best Christmas present anyone could have given me.

His favorite gifts were his shiny new kitchen set, and his Yo Gabba Gabba dance mat.  He got quite a few other things that he hasn’t had much of a chance to acknowledge, so I suspect over the next few days, he’ll be rediscovering a bunch of new toys.

My favorite gifts were all of my new makeup (much needed) and my Wii fit (which may only get light use until fetus v 2.0 is born.

Overall, Santa was good to us this year (beyond good) but I’m glad it’s over, because I’m pooped!

Sam refused to nap as well only he was a cranky mess by the end of the day. And remains a cranky mess. He’s not so much into getting back on schedule right when we get home. We’re getting revenge by hiding some of his presents until later. Because he? cannot handle that many toys all at once.

Oh hell yeah with the no napping and the presents that somehow multiplied (but especially when my MIL kept buying “just one more”). What kitchen set did you get? I had hoped to convince one or the other set of grandparents to buy the fancy wood French set from Oompa but they opted to get horribly noisy battery-operated plastic things instead, so now I want to get her a set for her birthday (but don’t want to drop major coin).
