Me: Mama?
Mini: Dada.
Me: *bangs head on table*

I get that a lot. Nice, considering I’m the one who’s with her all day!

I keep meaning to email/post about this — S. does the SAME GODDAMNED THING. He calls me “Daddy” all day long. I’ll be, like, “MOM-MY,” which I know he can say, and he’ll look at me and go “DAD-DY.”

It was all mum, mum, mum in the begining but now I can’t bribe a mum out of the baby. It’s all about dad.

I even promised to buy him a pony.

I hear that they don’t say Mama or Mommy for ages. I think it’s karma. That, and so we can use it the rest of their lives – “I carried you, walked uphill in the snow both ways, and you couldn’t even say my damn name for years.”

This is so weird, because just yesterday me and the Mini were hanging out and he was all, “Pru! Pru!” Sorry to hear he has not yet given you pride of place in his vocabulary.

But anyway, I hear this a lot. My kid said “DADDY” at something like 8 months, then kind of went of it. They are so damn fickle, these kids.

He knows you want him to say it. He knows he’s torturing you. HE KNOWS!!!
