An expensive lesson in retardation

Wonder why you’re heat isn’t working for the second time this winter.

Call the repairman, again, only to have him come out and call you a moron because you turned the heat off via the switch on the wall that has a giant red switch plate that says DO NOT TURN OFF.

Shamefully hand your wallet over to him and pay him the 80 bucks.

Aww. The brain fart. LIke the time I called tech support for an AS/400 I worked on after college, only to tell them after a $1,000 visit that I forgot to hit compile.

In our proper defense, we knew that switch did something…we just did not know it shut off the heat. That, and the switch is located directly above the light switch.

We had that happen when our house lost power (we live on the 3rd floor) and someone hit that switch — it only controls _our_ heat and hot water. Not the heat and hot water for the other 3 apartments.

That sucked.

Look at the bright side, overall, a relatively cheap fix for the problem. :-)

I asked the owner if our new house has one of those switches this weekend, and he said it doesn’t. Yay! I’m sure we’ll find a different stupid reason to call the repairman though.

Must… not… laugh… *chokes*

That would have made me a little crazy too.
