I’m Smrat

The other day, I bought a bottle of Snapple Asian Pear green tea, which touts:

“Studies show that 300mg of EGCG daily, boosts your metabolism.”

Or something like that. And on that same exact label, says that each bottle has 55mg of EGCG.

Which means that:

You’d have to drink a little under 6 bottles of green tea.

And at 60 calories per serving, with 2 servings per bottle, that’s 120 calories.

120 calories X 6 bottles = 720 calories, which is roughly half your calorie intake.

All to boost your metabolism.

i think i’d go for plain, loose leaf green tea instead.

but that’s certainly a nice little advertising gimmick they have there. *snort*

ehh stay away from the herbal stuff and go right for the caffeine.

Hah! Guess they didn’t count on you actually doing the math there.

This makes me think of the bread asile at the grocery store. So much of it looks good for you – until you read the label and realize there’s High Fructose Corn Syrup in all except for two brands, and even those two brands only have a couple of kinds that are any good for you. Fucking media.

I think doing all that math alone boosts your metabolism.

Hi Statia,

Ever heard of “matcha”?

This stuff has got a caffeine jolt, for sure, but it has a nice flavor, and it good for the body…
