When you get pregnant, you get baby brain. Which is continued right on into parenthood. Only it’s much worse. The kind that keeps you completely out of the loop on the world around you. I think clueless is a good way to put it. Also see: Head Up Your Ass.

I feel guilty and stupid even admitting this, but I was completely unaware of the Red Sox making it to the world series until they were three games in. Those of you who haven’t been reading here long enough know that I’ve been a Red Sox fan practically since birth. It was ingrained in me, as my father is a Cambridge native. I was a Red Sox fan in Yankee (*ptooey ptooey*) territory. I was at the game in 86 that took them to the world series. My little 11 year old self swore at Bill Buckner right next to my father. So to flip through the channels last week and see the series, and think it was still the playoffs, and then realize it was in fact the series, well um, “gee Statia, where the hell have YOU been?” With moving in May, and the endless projects we’ve had every weekend this summer, oh and yes, a baby, I haven’t followed a lick of baseball, except to know that the Red Sox made it to the playoffs, to which I cursed them, because they always make it to the playoffs, usually only to screw themselves in the end.

And to top that off, because that alone is enough, I was out at the store, only to realize that the new Sims expansion pack came out a month ago. I didn’t even know what the next expansion pack was supposed to be.

Hey, did everyone know that today is Halloween?

It’s okay. We watched the games but the Rockies didn’t put up much of a fight. I’m a Sox fan by marriage.

Hey, Statia, did you know it was 2007?

I didn’t have pregnancy brain, but I’ve more than made up for it with new-parent brain. I totally missed all the wildfires last week. Or whenever they were.

What is the Mini dressing up as for Halloween (if anything)?

Baseball? They still play that game?

Baseball, eh? yes, I think I heard something about that … maybe.

I totally used to have this steel-trap memory. Now I carry a notepad around in my purse at all times. sucks.

Dude, I got to go to the Rolling Rally in Boston on Tuesday! Fun times. I never really chose between the Yankees and the Red Sox (ahh, the joys of being from CT), but this World Series might have swayed me. That rally was fun.
