Snot face

by statia on September 29, 2007

My ex-husband’s niece used to be able to look at me when she had a cold and within hours, I’d be sick. I wish I was exaggerating when I said this, but I’m not. You’re even probably saying that I was most likely coming into a cold prior to seeing her, or that it was just coincidental. Once is coincidental, four times is not. She would sneeze on me, and three hours later, the scratchy throat would start, the watery eyes. It was then that I realized that babies are bio-hazardous germ factories. For someone who has an immune system made of titanium alloy, it’s kind of disconcerting how quickly a baby cold will knock me on my ass.

We’re in New York for the weekend, visiting my god parents, cousins, and family. And wouldn’t you know at around afternoon thirty-ish, right about the time that we pulled onto the Island, I hear the little baby cough that sounded suspiciously real, unlike his little fake dramatic cough he usually does to get my attention. And then a sneeze, and then another, and another, and by the time we got to my old neighborhood, he was a giant snot faucet. Let’s hear a collective aww for the Mini’s ill timed first cold.

Let’s see how long it takes before Mama gets it.

My stepkids were the masters of making me sick. EOW, like freaking clockwork. I hope you and the mini get through this one with a minimal amount of tears.

Get to a Vietnamese restaurant and get some Pho. NOW.

I hope it moves through fast and that you don’t catch it! I’m sorry I’m going to miss seeing you guys! *pout* *cough*

Oh my god, I just got a little cold from Bridgie, too. Luckily it was minor for both of us. Hopefully Mini’s was actually a fake drama cough and not the real thing.

Nice thought…but, sigh, you probably already DO have it! Take care – I hate to be sick when traveling.

I am sitting here with a tissue to my dripping nose, this is the FOURTH cold I have had this year and previous to having a baby, I had approximately 4 colds in 2 decades. They are toxic these small people!

Colds suck. I know this because I have one. They’re worse in the mini people.

Skip the NyQuil and go straight to Vodka. Trust me on this one. Hope y’all are feeling better soon!

Awww Mini’s first cold! I guess it’s not that cute, huh?

Ugh. No fun. I hate colds. I imagine babies would feel the same way. Tabbs has had plenty of other crud, but no colds yet. Hope he feels better soon … and I hope you avoid it too.

Poor little gaffer. And wait, what’s this Pho stuff?
