Studio 103

by statia on May 30, 2007

We’re finally almost but not quite at our destination. We’re currently staying at a studio hotel diddy near our new residence. We close tomorrow, at the request of the sellers, a day early, however they fucked off on getting movers, so we won’t be able to get in until Friday anyway. Funny that.

Staying in a hotel with a baby, two dogs and four lizards is a smidge stressful. If you’re paying attention, that’s four lizards. We started out with five, but sadly, our leopard gecko decided that he wanted to live in Iowa instead and escaped out of the hotel room. I’m kinda bummed because he was a cute little feller. Maybe to some people, lizards are stupid, but they’re cute and I’ve grown quite attached to them. Maybe not so much our one skink, because he’s a god damned grumpy bastard. I mean, I wouldn’t push him out of a sixth story window or anything, but I wouldn’t want to see anything happen to him.

Anyway, things are coming together slowly. My car arrived finally, we do our walk through tomorrow and if all goes well, we’ll have the rest of our stuff by Friday, which is two to four days earlier than the original estimate. The Mini is a rock star. He’s still got the whole witching hour thing going on, which will pass someday before he’s 18, maybe. I’m sure most of it is due to stress and it’s his way of letting off steam, but despite this, he’s doing considerably well otherwise, so I’ll just put on my heavy duty raincoat and “wellies” (as my pregnant bitch Helen would call them) and weather the storm. It’ll pass eventually.

I will say one thing, all of this nonsense is helping me to sleep rather well.

Uh…now I’m worried about the next time I have to stay in a hotel in Iowa…not that lizards are bad…just a tad bit unexpected ’round these parts.

Closing on the 31st is MUCH more preferable than the 1st! All that interest! We closed on our house 1 year ago today. :-)

Glad you guys are doing so well, but I’m sure it will be a huge relief when you close and get moved in.

Which part of Iowa did he escape in? Maybe I’ll walk outside and see him. ;)

I wish I was going to be around this weekend – I’d drop off some food for you or something. Instead, I’ll be sweating my ass off on the river.

Lucky me.

Good luck on the walk through!

Aw, sad to hear about Henry. Hopefully he’ll like life in Iowa!

I’m amazed at how calm you seem about all of this. I would be jumping out of my skin right about now!

Dude, 2 weeks in a studio hotel with 2 toddlers – and going on 5 months in a corporate 2-bedroom with no end in sight. Talk. To. The. Hand. Welcome home!
