Keeping my tray in the upright position

by statia on April 12, 2007

We took a trip this week. On an airplane. With a baby. Not just any baby, the Mini Me-ester of course. I’m not really quite sure if we were high or insane, traveling with a five week old. Either way, I have to say, the Mini was a rock star on the plane. I spent two weeks stressing about how he would be on a trip like this, with connecting flights, both to and from our destination. That and I worried about potentially getting him sick with all of those germy people breathing recirculated air on him.

And I’m totally not a germaphobe, either, but you know, he is still a little young and I really don’t want him to get like, meningitis or anything.

But it all worked out, because he was very good, and we managed to not annoy any of the passengers around us. Unless you count being rude to nosy people annoying. I just call it being downright assholish, but I’m ok with that, because, really, my baby is none of anyone’s business and for the love of god, if a random stranger tries to touch him, we’re both ready with our ridge hands at the throat.

Anyway, we took a trip to look at houses, because we’re moving. The Meester got a job offer and accepted it, so now we’re scrambling to get things in order and find a place to live so that when we get there we’re not living out of our car.

All I know is that I’m so fucking happy to be getting out of this festering hell hole of a state (no offense to those of you that love it here), however, I thought I was crazy doing a cross country move the first time. The thought of doing it with a baby, two dogs, and five lizards is enough to make my asshole pucker. And of course, there’s also the fact that we have to drive through Nebraska again. And well, we all know how well that went the last time.

Hey i was suprised traveling with our 6 week old 2 weeks ago, wasn’t in a plane, but a 3 hour car ride wasn’t all that bad. Anyhow congrats to the meester on the job and have a safe move, and mooooove thru nebraska quickly.

Well…. where already?

Congratulations! New baby, new home…things seem to really be going your way! So, I’m curious too…where? Midwest? East coast? I’d love to have you all as a neighbor (Chicago area).

Your asshole pucker, that’s some funny.
I hope that the trip back to the East isn’t as bad as the trip west. At least you might be able to get a decent cheesesteak.

YAY!! I’m so thrilled. What’s your timeline?

tricia April 12, 2007 at 6:14 pm

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!

*pee my pants excited*

Any chance the moving date has moved up?

HEY! Nebraska isn’t THAT bad…ok, yeah it is. Stop in Omaha and have a good steak to make it worth the effort.

Glad to hear the lil’ man is a pro traveller. It’s the toddlers you have to watch out for. I’ve spent far too much time judging other people’s parenting based on their screaming toddlers on planes.

Awww. You misssed the cranes. There’s always dust-devils and fed-ex, after fed-ex, after fed-ex trucks to contend with.

And I swear, if you decide to “stop” one night in Nebraska and NOT let me see the Mini-Meester, I will so kick your ass.

You know, of course, if I can find you.

And please, people! Eastern Colorado is 1,000 times worse than any part of Nebraska.

Am I the only person who is not thrilled that you are moving?? Damn woman, you better let me see that kid before you just get up and leave the state.

Congrats and congrats again! One for the new job, two for getting the hell out of CA!

Sorry to hear you have to drive through NE again. Maybe the Meesito will use that opportunity to start talking? (I know, I know. Shut up.)

becky April 13, 2007 at 7:23 am

yeah, we’re thinking of getting out, too. as soon as we can.

sarah April 13, 2007 at 9:11 am

Hooray for the new job! Good luck with the move and all the activity surrounding it. I’m dreading our next cross-town move and can’t imagine orchestratinga cross-country one.

mel April 13, 2007 at 12:05 pm

Nebraska? Not so much fun!

But moving to a place you really like? God times!

Congrats on the job and getting out of CA! I am sure you will find a house. It’s to do it from such a long distance but I have faith that both of you will figure it out :)

Lenni April 13, 2007 at 2:22 pm

I’m so amazed you flew with a baby, regardless of age! Congrats on the new job and the move!!

Asha April 13, 2007 at 8:05 pm

Hey, congrats to the meester on his new job (!) and all of you on your upcoming move! You’ve mentioned wanting to leave CA for awhile now, so I’m glad that it’s finally coming together for you guys.

thalia April 14, 2007 at 8:06 am

well done to the mini meester, he obviously is a total rock star (as if we didn’t know that already). Are you moving back to the land of great cheesesteaks? Good for you!

Camille April 15, 2007 at 7:30 pm

Glad to hear he did so well. Can’t wait to hear more about the move!
