You really know how to put a jobless girl to work.

by statia on March 1, 2007

So here goes the answers to your questions:

M@ asked: Are you still glad you made the move to CA?
Well, I can’t say that I regret moving to California as it brought me to my husband. So in theory, yes, I am, however, that doesn’t mean I like it here in the slightest.

Ms Pants
had this to say:
I’d like a play-by-sarcastic-play of the birthing if you’re up for it. Cos I need to hear it from people who won’t be all maple-nut-fucking-crunch about how it’s the most wonderful experience blah blah.

And before that, I’d like some photos of G-man and Miss M. being all cute. Especially if “being cute” means that one of them has the other’s head in his mouth. I’m just sayin.

Ok, first, this is probably as close as you’re going to get in regards to head swallowing.

Second, when have you known me to sugar coat anything? Not that I’m going to scare my infertile bitches (or the people next in line to give birth, because I refuse to be one of those people that feels the need to go overboard on war stories) with a birth story, but I won’t leave out the details.

DD Asked:
Tell us about where or who you have acquired your witty sense of humor.
- and -
Tell us what you LIKED about being pregnant.

Well smartass, if you must know, I come from a long line of witty people. It’s in my blood. My whole family is warped and weird when it comes to the sense of humor. My father’s side of the family is particularly brutal in regards to wittiness.

As for being pregnant. Hands down the movement. It’s just so surreal, even now, to think that the movement I feel is a whole other person. There’s also the fact that my husband? Has been a total fucking ROCK STAR when it comes to taking care of me. He goes so far beyond what should ever be asked of anyone. Not that he’ll just stop being like that, but how many times in your life can you hear “honey, you just relax while I clean the house?” Not that many, I can tell you that.

Tracy asked:
Wait a minute – aren’t you supposed to be NESTING or something? Shouldn’t you be scrubbing things down with a toothbrush by now?

Heh, I did a lot of my nesting in the second trimester. And while I’m itching to get a few things done, they’re bigger things that require the Meester’s help. Also, um, I don’t know if you remember, but actually bending and trying to get on the floor? Yeah, that’s really hard.

Cortney asked:
Who do you think will do diaper duty (doody…hehe) the most, you or the Meester?

DOOOOOOOOOOOODY!!!! I’m guessing that we’ll probably most likely share diaper duty as equally as possible. He’s not the type of person to shirk responsibility. (see above RE: ROCK STAR)

Merrin asked:
M&M’s…plain or peanut?

Um, hello? CANDY? I’m not picky, if you stick either of them in my face, I will eat them happily. I will also see how many I can shove in my mouth at once.

SSFB asked:
Are you going back to work after-birth or are you taking some time off?

Do you have names picked out already? ….well I guess name (single) since you already know what you’re having. Do you have a blogging code name already picked out? Or will you still be refering to “the fetus” when s/he goes off to college?

How/why did you get started in blogging? It seems like lots of people do because they have some sort of computer-design-savvy job related skills.

1. I will be staying home for awhile. Right now, I’d love to stay home at least the first year, but this is dependent on a. income, if we can swing it (I was totally the sugar mama) and b. my sanity. I always thought being a stay at home mother is what I wanted to do, but I’m having a very hard time letting go of my job and being productive and a contributing member of the family. That said, Fetus isn’t here yet. I might still love it.

2. Man, what is with you people? Fetus is an endearing nickname. heh. We do have a few names picked out, and we may be agreed on one, but right now, it’s still up in the air. Naming your kid is hard, and honestly, I can’t name my kid before I meet him/her. I feel weird about it. I think you need to meet them first.

3. Originally, I wanted to start a dream log. Surfing the net 5 years ago, I stumbled on blogs and I liked the format. While I consider myself above average in the technical sense, my job wasn’t technical, so that wasn’t what led me to blogging.

Bre asked:
You’ve mentioned moving back East a couple of times. Is that still in the cards? What do you miss about it and what will you miss about Cali if you go?

Why yes, in fact we ARE moving back east. We’re in the process of putting that together as we speak. After I found out I was pregnant, we knew we wanted to get back sooner rather than later, because a. we can’t afford for me to not work if we stay here, and b. we want Fetus to grow up with a variety of seasons. I really miss the east coast, but we also wanted to wait until after Fetus was born because we both love our dr so much, and she’s been with us through so much. I couldn’t imagine anyone else delivering our child. So yeah, we’ll probably be back there by the fall at the latest. As for what I’ll miss? There’s really not much that I’ll miss. Yes, the weather is great most of the year, but I really miss seasons (even winter). It’s tough to say what I’d miss (and I honestly, I’d say friends, but that’s just a given). I’ll miss being able to buy liquor anywhere and maybe the Mexican food. Yeah, that’s about all I’ve got.

Faith asked:
D’ya liiike..bread?

Is the Pope Catholic?

Lisa asked:
Still collecting stickas? Which are better, glittery or fuzzy?

What’s your favorite card game/board game/online time waster?

If you decided to go back to school, what would you like to study?

Name a place you’ve never been but you’ve always wanted to go visit. What about that place appeals to you most?

What’s your favorite movie?

What’s the biggest pregnancy craving you’ve experienced? (Besides sleep – sorry that’s not working for you, seriously.)

1. I haven’t collected stickas in a while. Mainly because I have a few boxes full and I have to sort through them and sell my doubles, etc. Scratch n’ sniff still wins hands down. It’s all about the old school trend stickers.

2. My favorite online time waster these days is probably flickr. As much as I’ve become leary of it, I still love looking at pictures. Favorite card game, eh, I don’t really get into cards, but I loves me some Balderdash. That’s probably my favorite board game.

3. If I went back to school, i have no idea what I’d do. I’d love to do something in the creative field. Photography, design. But the age old question of “what do you want to be when you grow up?” still remains unanswered.

4. There are so many places I would love to visit. It’s hard to pick just one.

5. I have a few favorite movies: Beaches (shut up), Goodfellas and Beautiful Girls.

6. I really didn’t have many pregnancy cravings honestly. I would have to say the thing I ate the most was maraschino cherries.

Vanessa asked:
On your blog, can we call the kid Lucky after it’s born? Like, Lucky the Leprechaun? Does that put you off? I mean, I have no doubt Fetus will be Magically Delicious, after all, but I totally leave it up to you.

Dude, what the hell is it with you and the Lucky Charms lately? I think you need to just eat a box of the chernobyl marshmallow goodness and get over it already. In fact, I may have to stick a box in your next care package.

Narcissist asked:
Well, I’m a new reader, so I know next to nothing about you other than your fetus is about to pop out. So I suppose I’ll ask, what’s the one thing you would most want someone to remember about you?

Just how fucking funny I really was.

Geeky asked:
Favorite candy?
What did you like best about living in Philly?
Any regrets in life, big or small?
If you won $1 million and didn’t have to be responsible with it (ie pay bills, donate, etc), what’s the first thing you would buy?

1.Um, man, I love ALL candy. Lately, I’ve had this addiction to red hots, and do you know they cure heartburn? They totally do, it’s science.
2. Cheesesteaks. And Wawa.
3. You know, I can’t really say I have regrets. I try not to live my life regretting anything. I mean, I probably do, but I try to look forward and not back.
4. I’m actually a pretty conservative person when it comes to spending. I go in spurts where I’ll blow some money, but it’s usually on practical stuff. The first thing I’d probably buy is a damn bedroom set. Or maybe the D200 and the 3 lenses I’ve been coveting.

Danya asked:
Have you guys have picked out a name for Fetus? (Just yes or no, I’m not asking you to share the name or anything.) If yes was it an easy to do?

See above for that answer. Naming your kid is hard.

Angela
asked:
Breast feed or formula? Cloth or plastic diapers? (I’m grossed out by the thought of the cloth, but hey they are more environmentally & wallet friendly)
How many days until you think that maybe should have a stay at home husband while you work?
Did you have a single name picked out quickly, or are you still considering names?

1. We’re going to be a formula household. Fetus is most likely going to be an only, so the Meester wants in on feedings, yes I could pump, but breast feeding isn’t the right choice for us.

2. Disposable. Because we love ruining the environment. Seriously, we weighed both and cost wise, I think it evens out. If you get a diaper service, it’s expensive, if you do it yourself, you’re using lots of water, so I think it evens out in the end.

3. The most asked question today. See above for answer.

SarahD asked:
Where do you get the best stickers?

Most of my stickers are vintage and they came from Ebay. Newer stickers were found mostly at party stores.

Buddha asked:
So. Which do you prefer?

Old Darren or New Darren on Bewitched?

Old Darren all the way.

Grace asked:
Not much mention of the Sims lately. Have you given up on all your Simmy families, and have you gotten the new Sims seasons yet?

I actually haven’t played the Sims much lately. I haven’t been into it for one, and sitting at my PC for too long makes my feet swell really badly. I did buy Seasons and installed it, but I really haven’t had time to play it.

BeachGirl asked:
I’ve been wondering how you met the meester. I remember reading that it was through blogging, but how’d you meet in person? Inquiring minds want to know.

We actually sort of met through mutual blogging friends and started talking. We lost touch for a little while and then ended up talking again about 6 months later. We kept that part a secret and then finally met in person in April of 04. You can read about that in my archives. Start at the end of April.

Damn, you’re keeping me really damn busy. But don’t stop. Keep them coming.

I don’t know if I’m too late to the question game. We lived in Fresno – I’m an East coast gal – and HATED it til I left then I could only remember the good parts. Pool in the backyard, great weather, easy going lifestyle. Sigh. To my questions. When will Vanessa hold that baby? Does it bother you deep down that the baby will always have a Cali. birth certificate?

Kathy March 1, 2007 at 6:01 pm

Say a madman has a gun to your head and made you choose, would you drink a gallon of rotten egg nog or eat 3 pounds lbs of egg salad completely laden with pubes, which would you pick?

You love me.

Teresa March 1, 2007 at 6:07 pm

Who’s your favorite ‘Goonie’ and why?

Betty or Veronica?

Miss Miscellaneous March 1, 2007 at 7:16 pm

Just delurking for a moment!

Did you end up getting the part for the crib replaced?

Did you ever find out if your hello kitty water cooler could really have warm drinks?

So many questions, so little work time!

Tracy March 1, 2007 at 10:21 pm

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. Thanks, Kathy.

Jen March 1, 2007 at 11:20 pm

oh Kathy! ugh. I think I would let the gunman shoot me!!

Are you going to try to ‘get’ the Fetus on a schedule? Or will you let s/he lead the way?

Has Mac knitted anything for the Fetus yet? lol

Is the Meester going to watch over the curtain to see Fetus be born?

MsPrufrock March 2, 2007 at 12:41 am

East Coast representing, woo hoo! We talk about moving back to the States sometime and I would *never* move anywhere but the east Coast.

As for questions for you…hmmmm…

Do you have any phobias?

Will you get all gushy when Fetus is born and use words like, “miracle” and “precious angel” in your first blog post?

Have you decided to shun breastfeeding because I gave it up very early? You know, idol worship and all that.

Bonnie March 2, 2007 at 1:50 am

In my neck of the woods, new mom hairstyles tend to go short (for convenience) or over processed (need to look good again). Have you thought about what you’d do with your hair after Fetus arrives?

geeky March 2, 2007 at 7:30 am

Do you have a name for Fetus yet? Heh, kidding.

Wawaaaaa. I miss Wawa. :(

amy t. March 2, 2007 at 7:59 am

I’ll remember how fucking funny you are. Funny looking!

I’m sorry. I’m 8. That joke never gets less funny to me.

Let’s see…

Cabbage Patch Kids or Garbage Pail Kids?

Have you decided what your first alcoholic beverage will be once you pop?

Did you ever know that you’re my heeeeeeeeeeero? (seriously. Beaches? I love you!)

Vanessa March 2, 2007 at 8:16 am

If you had a “Get out of prison free” card, which celebrities would you sucker punch in the throat and why?

Vanessa March 2, 2007 at 10:18 am

Dude, MsPrufrock is right. I will pay MONEY to see you use “precious”, “angel” and “miracle” in your first post-birth blog post. Extra points if you use “mucus” and “hush puppies”.

Chris March 2, 2007 at 10:28 am

Us Old Darren people have to stick together.

Faith March 2, 2007 at 10:51 am

I’ve got french loaf!

*BOFF!*

Byyyeee…

Love youuuu……

You need to watch some Eddie Izzard, dude.

ellessu March 2, 2007 at 5:19 pm

Is there a favorite album that you will introduce to the Fetus once it is born?

I wish we had Wawa’s out here. Did you know the husband was former Master Sandwich Builder?
