“Oh, guys, don’t stay in here all day. I had to take the batteries out of the carbon monoxide detector. It was beeping all night”

by statia on January 17, 2006

I don’t sleep all that well. I never feel rested, it takes me FOREVER to fall asleep, but apparently, once I’m out, you could set off a bomb in front of my face and I wouldn’t wake up.

The carbon monoxide detector was going off last night. So what did the meester do? He pulled the batteries out of it and went back to bed. I was completely out for the count because I didn’t hear a damn thing.

I’m guessing that it’s ok since the dogs were still alive when he went home for lunch.

It was probably beeping beacuse the batteries were low. I hope!

it took me a minute to figure out where the title was from – great movie! but yeah, put the batteries back in :)

Yeah, when you put fresh batteries in, does it still go off?

Totally sounds like something I would do. All detectors and alarms in my house are disabled or disarmed because I can’t stand unexpected beeping noises at night. My house is a death trap.

My dad did the same thing with the smoke detector when my mom was 9 months pregnant with my sister. My mom freaked and went in and got my batteries out of my transistor radio (god how old am I) and replaced it in the middle of the night. Two days later, she was in the hospital after having my sis — and our house burned to the ground. The only one home was dad and it woke him up and saved his life. Firemen said it was melted to the ground and still going off after they put the fire out. Replace the batteries or I’ll kick your hiney!
