I want my MTV

by statia on April 24, 2005

One of my friends once told me that when you turn 27 you have to stop watching MTV. It’s like the rules, or the law or something. I kind of cracked up at this. Not that I watched a ton of MTV to begin with, but I was scared. Did this mean I was getting to be too old? The more I think about it, the more I noticed that I’m now more drawn to VH1 than I am to MTV. Remember when VH1 was the easy listening, knock off of MTV? This morning we were lounging around in bed watching this show called Laguna Beach. I’d never heard of this show until this morning, and you know, it was so stupid and teeny bopper-ish, that the more I think about it, the more I think she’s right. Besides, Verne Troyer drunk and pissing over everything is much funnier than a bunch of rich kids talking about “growing up” any day.

I’m so old.

I was thinking about this just yesterday. The only thing I watch anymore on MTV is The Real World… and then I start to get all upset because I am too old to be on the show!

I only “listen” to MTV when a good song comes on.

I never watch MTV anymore. I haven’t since I was in college. I also stoped watching VH1 when they stopped playing videos and became MTV junior.

i haven’t watched EmpTV since ’99….i miss the ol MTV of the 80′s…..

i think it’s a matter of quality rather than age….like, by 27, you should know better than watching bad quality crappy television programming, know what i mean?

MTV is being marketed now to the 12-24 crowd, because those are the ones with the most disposable income – and if they get ‘em young, then they’ll be watching for a loooooong time.

The only thing I like on MTV is “Pimp My Ride” and reruns of Jackass. Other then that, I don’t watch it anymore.
