Put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye

by statia on March 10, 2005

So, I held off on doing my state taxes because I need to file in seperate states, and it’s a pain in the ass, and I’ve got like 50,000 other things going on right now. I knew I wouldn’t really owe anything for PA, or if I did, it wouldn’t be much. I was right. $10.00, the most I’ve ever owed for PA state taxes. Usually it’s under a buck and they don’t really make you pay anything under a buck.

So I start to file my CA state taxes, and it’s totally being a fucking bitch, and throwing the meester’s name in there (which is weird, because I filed seperately, because a. I wasn’t married last year, and b. it’s better that way. And I claim 0) and trying to tell me I sold stock. I don’t even OWN stock. Keep in mind I’ve lived here for only less than half of a year for tax purposes, and it’s telling me that I owe $1500 bucks. $1500 FUCKING DOLLARS for state taxes. Please tell me that I should remain calm and while I know that I will probably owe some money, that $1500 is just not right. Shit, the meester sold stock last year and owed 800 and that was high for him.

Counting down til freak out mode.

You should remain calm. (I didn’t think that would help but you told me to say it.)

You know…FL doesn’t have state income taxes. ;-)

What program are you using? Might it be worth it to go to H&R Block or some other tax prep place?

You know, Washington doesn’t have state income taxes, either…

New Hampshire is also one of the few “income” tax free states. It’s cold and snowy up here now. You’d love it.

I’d get it double-checked, but other than that, welcome to Cali. It’s a bitch here. :)

Yeah, welcome to CA – - I have ALWAYS owed here. ALWAYS. Thank Gray Davis for getting this state into the bind it is. In fact, I say send out thank you cards to all of our various state reps.

Dont feel bad, somehow we;re getting fucked out of 6,800 for federal taxes and 1600 for fucking GA taxes, and we only lived here half a year too. Could be worse. Top that with trying to save for this kid, and for not getting paid on maternity leave, and you;ve got pissed-off-pregnant-woman-stress-meltdown :)
