You are my sunshine

by statia on February 12, 2005

It’s hard to believe that I’ve had a dog for nearly six years. G-man turns six years old today, and I honestly wonder where the hell the time went. He’s getting to the age where he’s pushing into his senior years. My dog is almost a senior. A senior!!! He’s starting to grey around the muzzle and I never thought that day would come.

I’m not going get all depressed and down about my dog being old on his birthday. He’s not quite an old man yet, and in personality, (when he’s not rolling his eyes at how stupid we act, or how idiotic we are for dressing him in clothes) he’s still very much a puppy. He amazes me with is quirky little personality on a daily basis. He’s like a little person.

Growing up, my parents never let us have a dog, because they could never train them properly. G-dog was a breeze to train, and I was really lucky to get such an easy going dog. Especially considering he’s my first dog. It’s been a total joy to have him in my life. Even during the “jackson pollock” moments.

Every year I pull out his photo album and look at his puppy pictures. I remember when he first came home. I couldn’t wait for him to grow up. As far as getting up and the constant potty trips go, I don’t miss puppyhood one bit. However, when I go back and look at the pictures of him… I mean, how can you not just totally want to go back in time and just enjoy his puppyhood, if only for a few minutes?

Since then, we’ve been through a lot together. I honestly believe he was meant to be my dog. Today will be filled with lots of snuggles, a trip to the beach, and extra cookies from the doggie bakery.

Happy Birthday little buddy.

Mommy and Daddy.

Happy birthday, G-Man! There’s a case of Jenny Craig food that should be arriving any day. I put lots of lentils in there–your mommy will be so happy!!

Happy Birthday G-Pimp. Make sure you let your Mommy and Daddy know you ARE a little person, trapped in a dogs’ body.
