G-Dog was nestled all snug in his bed

by statia on December 21, 2004

Every year around this time. The G will rifle through his toy box and pull everything out. Carefully, one by one, and revisit with it. Old bones, old toys. It’s as if to say “we’ve had some good times old pal, but I know that Santa is coming, and well, it’s time to make room in my toy box for the new stuff coming in. You’ll always have a special place in my heart.” It’s actually very amusing to watch, as he rifles through carefully, yet intently as he pulls each item out. This is the Meester’s first Christmas with G-dog, and he had never before seen him perform this ritual. I have to wonder if he actually remembers the tree and stockings from year to year, and associates the two.

I think he does. I also think he’ll be pretty pissed if his stocking this year isn’t bigger than last year’s.

Dogs are all about the associative learning. He’s either making room, or looking for gifts for you, or he just knows that gifts are coming and so has gifts on the brain.
