Lucky 13

The meester and I officially started our Christmas shopping today. I’m making it a point to be done with shopping no later than December 1st. I’m normally this insane, with the exception of the last couple of years when I a) didn’t have any money, and b) didn’t really have that many people to buy for. Not so much the case this year, and we also have to go away for Thanksgiving. I’ll have peace of mind that it’s done. Besides, if I actually want to go to the mall during the holiday season, it’ll merely serve as entertainment by watching all of the people on edge get pissy when they can’t find kiddie vibrator elmo or whatever the latest toy will be this year.

In the sprirt of Halloween, we also took a mansion tour of the Winchester House down in San Jose. It’s a historic landmark house that was built by this weird grieving old bat who was told by a psychic that spirits were pissed off at her because her late husband’s gun company had produced…. well, guns, that had killed many military people. You can read a lot more about it here, if you’re unfamiliar with the story, as I had been until I moved here. It’s actually a pretty fascinating story, and the house itself was extremely odd. Doors and windows that opened to nowhere, or to walls. A staircase to the ceiling, windows in odd places. Psychics will swear that it’s haunted. I certainly wouldn’t be able to tell as I don’t really think I carry any ability to detect paranormal activity. Interesting history tour, and they do flashlight tours at night around Halloween, but I doubt it’s haunted. Though, I do know of one certain person I’d like to bring there, because I’m sure that she would find it extremely interesting.

I’ve seen that house on tv. And yes, it is a wonder. But come on, it ain’t haunted, it’s just fucked up.

I saw that house on the Sci Fi channel or something…. I would LOVE to see it. Sounds like fun.

And I am so bummed I lost my shopping partner this year. *sigh* October 31, 2004 at 1:28 pm

So, as you likely have read over at the meeeeeses’ site, we went to the Winchester House this evening. We were greeted by a highschool boy who was just a smidge on the gay side. And when I say smidge,…

I’ve been to that house. It was pretty interesting. Neat to see what a psychosis will do to you.

Kill me if you want, but I too plan on being done with Christmas shopping ahead of time. Like, soon. That way, I can walk through the hallowed shopping halls and laugh at people who are stressed and frazzled.

You know. In keeping with Christmas spirit and all.
