Smells like Teen Spirit

I’ve rarely had a problem with people stealing bandwith. Then again, maybe I should check my referrer stats more often to see if people are actually stealing bandwith. Tricia had let me know that the site was down most of New Years Eve. I was so busy most of the day, that I wasn’t even online. Needless to say, we ran out of bandwith, but it wasn’t for long.

I figured that I should keep track of that stuff a little better. Sure enough, I noticed some bandwith theft going on. So of course, I swapped out the image for a nice nasty message. Seriously, are people really still that stupid? Don’t answer, I already know. You’d think the internet was a new thing.

Winter has kicked into full gear here. It’s brutally cold. They’ve still got the “code blue” warning in effect. Isn’t that the emergency code in they use in hospitals when people are just about to die? How wrong does that seem?

I need to win the lottery so that I can retire early to the carribean. This cold weather shit is for the birds.

No, they don’t even like it. Your best bet is to grow wings, feathers and migrate your ass south for the Winter. Florida calls, does it not?

So how cold does it have to be for this “cold blue” thing?

Who knows, who cares. They just want to make sure that people have heat, and the homeless people in the city don’t freeze to death.

I had this problem too, believe it or not, a few months ago. Rather than do a F-off image (which would use my bandwidth, too), I decided to go in and just block external calls for images.

The downside is that images in my RSS files don’t show up, but I can live with that, I suppose.

Let me know if you want the code for your .htaccess. Probably very similar to what you are using to swap the images.
