Cuteness and cookies

by statia on December 14, 2003

I spent my day yesterday making cookies with one of my most favorite people ever. We banged those cookies out in three hours, and also made a gingerbread house. We made those cookies our bitch. When I was married, my mother-in-law used to take us daughter-in-laws for what she called cookie weekend. That’s right, the entire weekend devoted to making cookies. All kinds. You name it, we made them. As much as I loved having that whole family thing, it’s really hard to give up a weekend to making cookies during the busy holiday season. However, I’ve gotten the cookie system down to a science. We hauled ass, and the cookies came out perfect.

Almost too perfect. No. more. cookies.

Also, I totally succumbed to the cuteness. Ugh. Little puppy cuteness. I crumbled under the pressure of the little paws on my shin with the little “please pick me up face”. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!!! I thought I had more willpower than that.

Now I must go put up my Christmas decorations, rather the rest of them. Which I have absolutely no desire to put up at all.

But first, I need another cookie.

Been visiting your site for a long while (I love your style and “tell it like it is” way of doing things. ;)

I’ve been a bit too silent in my lurking status, and thought I’d finally say hello and hop over to share in the cookies! lol
;)

Did you get Gromit a puppy companion? I wasn’t sure, although your post mentioned giving in to the “puppy cuteness factor”. ;)

Happy Holidays

A whole weekend is definitely a long time to give up before the holidays, but it’s fun to do cookies with company for 1/2 a day. :)

*Drool* Baking cookies was something I never did with my mom when I was a kid – unless you count the green marshmallow holly wreath no-bake cookies we “spooned” together – and I kinda feel like I missed out on something pretty great. We always sought out my grandmother for stellar Christmas cookies. But now that I’m a grown up (supposedly), I’d love to do a little baking. So, without betraying any family secrets, are there any recipes you wanna share?

You sent your favorite pregnant friend some, right? ;-)

Want to come and do my cookies for me? I know I have an evening of baking ahead of me next week, since the kids don’t think Santa can eat store bought cookies.

Love your site by the way!
