2003, the best of the not so best

by statia on December 29, 2003

2003 was not exactly the best year for me. I’d go so far as to say that it sucked, but there were some good highlights of the year, most definitely. I’ve made great friends, lost some friends, rekindled old friendships. It was a tough year, but it seems that not all was lost. The montly breakdown:

January: Started this year off with snow. The first of many snowfalls throughout the winter. I also started this year off working for a new company via a buyout, and a business meeting right out of the starting gate. This month marks the 1 year anniversary of not speaking to my parents. Whoa, we’re going on two years coming up. Time flies.

February:One of the biggest snowstorms on record. Two days off of work. Fucking snow. My first big long plane ride out west, hopped up on much valium of course. Arizona, here I come. Not only did I survive, but fell in love with Arizona, and partied my ass off.

March: Got my new pc, complete with big ass™ flat screen monitor. Discovered the Sims. It’s all been downhill from there. The dating scene kicked up a bit in both Feb and March.

April:New hosting. More space for pizzadreaming.com. Getting mighty fucking sick of snow at this point. Second year as part of an old age drinking tradition. Is year #3 on the horizon?

May: Rekindled an old friendship with my friend C. Forgot how much fun we had. It’s been fun ever since. Went right from snow, to two months of fucking rain. Wanted to kill myself. Got the best voice mail ever

June: Started a possible birthday tradition. Took Sphinxy out for a day of fun and sun for her birthday. After much anticipation and waiting, Harry Potter #5 came out. I read the whole thing in 4 days.

July: Got my cousin hooked on blogging. She also came out to visit with Cory and Lisa. Got her hooked on the goose. It was a glorious day. My cousin got married. It was one of the most fun weddings I had ever been to.

August: Met Sarah, and Dania. Also got very very drunk. This year marked the year of the best birthday ever™. After a 12 year streak of shitty birthdays, I deserved it. Found out I had to move.

September: The apartment search was on. Discovered a taste for wine, and *gulp* pink. Anymore discoveries like that would just throw me over the edge. Hurricaine Isabelle came through and knocked out power, leaving me in hot beer breath humidity. Fucking 03 weather. The MS150 proved to be a challenge for me this year and I ended up not finishing it due to a knee injury.

October: My cousin Stephanie’s wedding finally came and went. She looked gorgeous. I finally moved. Spent almost a week without cable, or a sofa.

November: Started drinking with the neighbors. Had the ol’ ten year high school reunion. Which proved to be more fun than I thought it would. Loved seeing people I hadn’t in years. Well, some of them. Two stations started playing Christmas music Thanksgiving weekend. Wanted to put a loaded gun to my head.

December: Snow already. We got hit the first weekend of the month. As much as I hated snow, being able to walk to the bars was awesome. Had a great weekend that weekend. Started noticing gym results. Realized I was so not in the Christmas spirit this year. Glad it came and went unveventfully. Ate way too much.

I guess the good parts outweigh the bad, but seriously, I’m ready for this crazy ass year to be over.

Starts with snow and ends with snow. Seriously, I don’t know how you folks do it.

Hope this coming new year is even better for you.

I know what you mean Statia. This year has sucked hardcore – atleast for me it did – cancer, divorce, etc . . . It’s time for a new year, no doubt about that.
