I eat that Turkey, then I take a nap

by statia on November 23, 2003

Stick a fork in me. I’m done. I went over to a friends house for a pre-Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone brought something. About 20 or so friends that I don’t get to see but a few times a year, sitting around catching up. Good times. Good times. Why is it that people gorge themselves to the point of being sick on holiday meals? Just when you think you can’t eat another bite, you help yourself to thirds, and then still manage to choke down dessert. I didn’t get to stay as long as I would have liked, because I had an hour drive. Still, it was a lot of fun. And the best part of having a Thanksgiving meal with friends?

No family dysfunction.

I have a mental image of a Monty Python film, “It’s wafer thin….” “May I get you another bucket?”

Did the same thing today. Your question about gorging at holiday meals? I don’t have a clue. I just know that is what I do. UGH. Better lay in a big supply of AlkaSeltzer; I’ve got two more Thanksgiving meals to go. :^O

I don’t much care for Thanksgiving, for the reason you mentioned. This year (and every year)I have to go sit for six or eight hours with people I don’t even like….the best Thanksgiving was the one I had to work during and had a big dinner with co-workers that night.

Because we were allowed to get really hammered without being nagged about it.

The aunts and uncles frown on that at Thanksgiving.
