Get Connected

by statia on November 11, 2003

I’ve always thought that one of the coolest things about the internet was connecting with lost friends and family. As more and more people have gotten net access it’s become easier to find people. Back in 1996, I had been on the internet for three years, but a lot of people I knew weren’t. About 4 years ago, I got a random message from my cousin (no, not this crackhead) who I haven’t seen since I was about 13. We were really close growing up, until I moved to PA and she moved to Florida. It was weird to talk to her about random things about my childhood that I didn’t remember.

We eventually lost touch again, until today. Apparently, she’s been trying to get a hold of me for a long time. Nevermind the fact that I’ve had the same aim name for about 30 years or some shit like that. Anyway, I come to find out that she lives about 10 minutes from Robyn and Todd, and worked really close to them. I probably passed her on the street or something and never even knew.

Small world.

every six months or so i go try to track down some people that i haven’t talk to for a long while. i had one that took me almost 4 years to finally track down. we used to talk on powwow, does anyone remember that, but then she dropped off the face of the earth for a while. it’s really cool when you send out an email not knowing whether you’ve found the right person or not, and actually getting a positive response.

hi my name is matt and i’m an internet junkie.

Small world indeed.

Or maybe we are all just getting fat.

Wow — PowWow — that’s something I haven’t seen brought up in awhile!

I still can’t get over “it’s a small world after all”…
