You’re my reason for reason

There are times when you hear song lyrics, and even though you know the words, it sounds like they’re saying something else. For example, Santana’s song Smooth. It starts out like this:

“Man it?s a hot one
Like seven inches from the midday sun”

To me, it sounds like they’re saying:

“Man it?s a hot one
Like seven midgets from the midday sun”

Quite frankly, I think it sounds better, and if was still taking submissions, I’d submit it.

I still get teased that in “You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille”, I thought she left him with four hundred children and crops in the field…

I like your version better, too.

Ya picked a fine time to leave me, loose wheel…
Four hundred children and a crop in the field….
Ya picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel….

There’s a song they play on the radio right now that is totally sounds like he is saying “Oh. I’ve got my ass wiped!” When I know he is saying he’s got his eyes wide.

Your version sounds right to me!

I love One of my favorite misheard lyrics is from the Doobie Brothers’ What a Fool Believes:
The white man has the power to weasel away
It should be:
No wise man has the power to reason away

I just laugh whenever I hear that song now…
